A commentator said today in NPR that any metropolis in the US has no chance of getting to host the olympics in 2020 and I agree. The olymipcs is supposed to be a shining light that is directed to different areas of the world for humanities to see. Metropolis cities in the US has had the lights shined upon them for decades through TV series and hollywood movies. They have also had their chance with Atlanta hosting the Olympics not too far ago so there is nothing much to show to the world in metropolis America, but there is a lot in America's heartlnad to show to the world and this should be the focus of a smart bid for the 2020 games.
What we need to show the world is the not so famous parts of America that make up the best in America, the mountains, the desert, the lakes, the beaches, the rivers and the natural forests. We need to shine a light on the outer natural beauty and the inner beauty of those living in America. We need to show the world that city life is not the way of living in America that most know. Someone may argue that this will be a very hard bid and I agree it has not been done before and that is why there is a chance for an innovative bid that focuses on the heartland to win while others trying to push for another Chicago 2020 is doomed to fail!
